FADE IN:

EXT.CHICAGO LOOP - NIGHT

BETH SKYE McCLOUD runs for her life down a dark Chicago alley. At Michigan and Randolph, she stops, panting heavily, out of breath. Behind her, a cat SCREAMS.

She turns to see a LONG DARK SHADOW creeping towards her.

She bolts out onto Michigan Avenue. She glances back to see only the empty street behind her. Through Millennium Park she runs - turning the corner of the Pavilion and heading down the pedestrian stairs into the parking garage.

INT. MILLENIUM PARK GARAGE - NIGHT

Yellow CAUTION tape breaks up the dull gray. Boards, porta – potties and construction materials lay haphazardly around the corner of the garage.

From overhead, TRAFFIC SOUNDS filter through the night. An eerie yellow glow illuminates the rats pawing through a McDonald’s bag.

A hand grabs Beth’s shoulder.

She backs up, tripping over the yellow HAZARD tape stretched across the makeshift walkway which reads:
"CONSTRUCTION ZONE. AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY".

Behind her FOOTSTEPS ring.

A HOMELESS MAN smiles and tips his hat.

Beth runs down the makeshift walkway and into a dead end. She searches for an exit but she’s trapped. The FOOTSTEPS ring louder.

She spins to confront the stalker and sees:

-the HOMELESS MAN humming softly. Suddenly, he SCREAMS and falls to the floor. Standing over him looms the SHADOW. It turns and approaches her.

A HANDSOME MAN IN TUX - 25 with perfectly groomed black hair and a pale complexion - walks slowly toward Beth with exceptional grace.

He smiles. White fangs glitter in the dim light. A single drop of blood dribbles down his chin. Suddenly, he hisses and Beth turns to see...

...a BEAUTIFUL YOUNG WOMAN – 16-ish with long flowing hair wearing a gossamer dress. Her fangs glow in the gloom. The YOUNG WOMAN puts herself between the Tuxedo Man and Beth. The two vampires clash in a flurry of claws and screams as Beth falls backward into the blackness.

INT. BETH'S LOFT - DAYBREAK

Beth wakes with a start and peels herself off of the computer keyboard where she has fallen asleep. Her alarm clock SCREAMS a wake up call. She slams the alarm off and struggles out of the nightmare.

A typical "Goth" figure, Beth sports several face piercing, heavy eye make-up and black clothing. She squints at the bright sunlight.

The loft is sparsely decorated. Moving boxes sit unpacked around the room. A huge writing table with computer and printer dominates the loft. Posters of Beth sit atop the paperback display of VAMPIRE’S PRIVATE LIVES by BETH SKYE McCLOUD.
